Today we travel to the town of Ballinamore which is located on the Shannon Erne waterway.
Here we will visit the County Library and attend a workshop on ‘Tracing your Ancestors’’ we will also visit the Leitrim Genealogy Centre. Then some time free in Ballinamore to explore or get further information on your research. Staff will be at hand to assist you in any way they can. In the afternoon we visit Glenview Museum outside Ballinamore.
The Museum has a private collection of over 6000 antique, historical and novel items that range from pre-famine Ireland to the present day. We will then visit Tully, the birth place of Margaret of New Orleans, the first woman in America to have a statue erected in her honour. Here will learn how locals came together to remember Margaret’s Roots
This evening we will have dinner in Carrigallen followed by a night of Traditional Folk Music in the Corn Mill Theatre.
